Method
- Crush the chocolate cookies into fine crumbs using a resealable bag and rolling pin or a food processor. Set aside half of the crumbs for layering and garnish.
- Prepare the pudding by whisking the instant pudding mix into the cold milk until smooth and slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Let it sit for a few minutes until set.
- Fold the softly whipped cream into the pudding until fully combined, creating a creamy, mousse-like mixture.
- Spread a layer of crushed cookies at the bottom of your serving dish. Follow with a generous layer of the pudding mixture, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Repeat the layering process—cookies followed by pudding—until the dish is nearly full, ending with a layer of cookie crumbs on top for a crunchy finish.
- Decorate the top with gummy worms, arranging them to look like they’re wriggling out of the dirt. Add a few extra cookie crumbs over the top for added texture.
- Chill the dirt cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and the layers to set.
- Just before serving, add more gummy worms for a fresh, squirming effect, and sprinkle additional crumbs if desired.
- Serve the dirt cake chilled, with a big spoon and enjoy the ghoulishly delicious layers and fun textures.
Notes
Chill the pudding before assembling to prevent sogginess. Add gummy worms just before serving to keep their bounce. Extend shelf life by covering with plastic wrap tightly after chilling.
